Event Title: Thursday Evening Ride

Thursday Night Road Bike Ride, Essex, 11 Saybrook Rd, Essex CT, Connecticut, West of River, CT.
Weekly group ride (RC/TR, FL/RL, 15-17 mph) Meet at 5:45 p.m. for prompt 6:00 p.m. start from Rt. 9, Exit 3 old CPL, next to the Essex Fire House, 11 Saybrook Rd. (Rt. 154). Do not park in the fire department lot. The rides are mostly flat to rolling but sometimes hilly terrain on country roads in Essex, Deep River, Chester, Westbrook, Old Saybrook, Clinton and Haddam.
This is a weekly ride held each Thursday. Distances will be 19-34 miles, shorter early in the season, increasing depending on hours of daylight and decreasing later in the season. Riders will regroup at least once at the midway point Riders of lesser or more advanced levels are welcome; just be aware of the distance for that week and the time you need to finish the route before dark. Lights and reflective wear are strongly recommended, especially in early and late season. Possibly meet for dinner after the ride at a local restaurant chosen by participants.

Orange to east Rock and back and Strawberry Festival
(RC, FL/RL, CUE, 14 mph) 39 miles. Meet at 10:00 am for a 10:15 am start, at Mary L. Tracy School, 650 Schoolhouse Lane, Orange at the intersection of Schoolhouse Lane and Orange Center Rd. aka Rt. 152.
Ride is mostly downhill from Orange, through Bethany and Woodbridge, to Hamden. Rail trail through Hamden, then local roads to climb East Rock. Return to Orange with some climbing via Westville and backroads of Woodbridge. Lunch can be purchased along the way, but we can walk to Orange Strawberry Festival after we finish the ride This cue sheet is not on CT Bike Routes, but the leader will have copies for riders.

Learn about Prudence Crandall after a bicycle ride in the quiet corner of Connecticut.
Meet 9:15 for a 9:30 start at the commuter parking lot on Rte. 14 - 0.1 miles east of its intersection with Rte. 169 in Canterbury.
36 or 55 mile options. Less hilly than the Jim May Memorial Ride out of Woodstock. Food and drink available at the start or in Scotland 14 miles into the ride.
Two ice cream stops - Ekonk All Farm in Sterling about mile 39 and Hank's Dairy Bar at mile 48 (also has friend clams and lobster rolls). Short ride misses the ice cream stops.

Meet at 9:45 AM for 10:00 AM start at Whittemore Rec Area, East River Rd, Peoples State Forest, Barkhamsted. Optional mid-ride rest stop for water and restrooms at York Lake. No other services except Riverton.

Optional potluck picnic post ride for those interested. Bring a dish to share, and your beverage of choice. Leader will provide picnic supplies. Cue sheets will be provided.
There is a possibility of a new longer route mapped by Pete Solomone that skips RTs 57&8.
